(This one is for you Tawana...) Over the past seventeen years of pivate practice I have observed that those associated with cutting hair have more than their "fair share" of musculoskeletal problems. As a matter of clinical fact, I would venture to say that the hair styling industry is (based on my personal experience) certainly one of the worst for the human frame. Standing on a hard concrete floor all day is tough on the lower back. Working slightly bent over (and you have to do that to some extent even with the nice new adjustable chairs)is extremely bothersome to the thoracic area (between the shoulder blades). The repetitious hand and wrist movement causes irritation sometimes leading to carpal tunnel syndrome as well as elbow difficulty. And last, but not least by any stretch of the imagination, is the stress on the neck and shoulders from holding your arms up a million minutes a day. Add all this up and you have an achy breaky back that needs help. Yea, you can put up with some pain now... but what about the really bad stuff that happens when you get older? Areas where the joints are stressed now can develop into more serious conditions later (like arthritis). But... there is an easy fix. Gentle, safe chiropracic manipulation can not only release tension on the joints and remove pain, it can prevent the more serious things from catching up to you. Call the clinic (703-730-0200) for a No Charge Consultation/examination (including x-rays). You will feel a whole lot better so you can keep on making us look great! Dr.White
